The Alssonian Magazine: American School Edition

Check out this year’s 1st edition of The Alssonian Magazine: American School Edition.

This publication is the result of months of dedication, creativity, and collaboration by our Middle & High School students, who worked to bring their voices, ideas and talents to life. From writing and editing to design and organization, this magazine stands as a true reflection of student agency, creativity, and commitment.

We are incredibly proud of the team behind this achievement and deeply grateful for the support and encouragement of the magazine’s editor-in-chief Mrs. Sara Mokhtar and the school leadership and staff whose belief in our students made this milestone possible.

We invite you to take a moment to explore the magazine, celebrate our students’ work, and join us in recognizing this first step in what we hope to become a lasting school tradition.

School Start Time & Late on Gate

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As school settles into swing we wish to remind our community that the school day starts at 7:45am. Students arriving after 7:45 are considered late. Late arrival to school causes students to miss important morning routines, lesson time, and has a detrimental effect on classmates.  All students must arrive before 7:45 to ensure they attend assemblies and registration and are ready for the start of their first lesson.

Beginning on September 28th, our Late on the Gate procedures will begin, and no student will be permitted to enter campus after 7:55am. With many national schools and universities starting the week of September 21st, we anticipate higher volumes of traffic around the city. We encourage car students to adjust their travel time accordingly to ensure they arrive to school on time before 7:45am. Beginning September 28th, students arriving after 7:55 will be expected to return home by the means they arrived to school as they will not be permitted on campus.

If your child has a medical or similar appointment and needs to arrive at school late, we will issue permission only when it is requested through the relevant divisional office at least one school day in advance. We are unable to consider late arrival requests made on the day.

Please note that arriving between 7:45 and 7:55 is still considered late as the school day begins at 7:45. Appropriate sanctions will be applied for students arriving between 7:45-7:55.

We of course understand that traffic conditions can be unpredictable and from time to time there can be emergencies that affect traffic in parts of the city. We understand that and we will also monitor local traffic and weather conditions and where necessary, we will make exceptions. We ask all parents to give extra time in the morning to ensure that their children arrive at school on time. Students traveling by bus will not be affected by the’ late on the gate’ procedure.

We ask that all parents please ensure that their child arrives at school before 7:45am. Students may be dropped off at school beginning at 7:15am. As the volume of car and foot traffic increases nearer to 7:45, we encourage parents who prefer a faster drop-off experience to please take advantage of quieter roads earlier in the morning.

Kind Regards,

El Alsson School
