Parent Council Presentation
Dear Parents,
We have had a successful Initial Parents Council Orientation Session today. For those of you who could not make it or missed it for one reason or another, please find below the presentation…
Primary/Elementary Arabic Midterm Schedule
Dear Parents,
As per Ministry of Education, Grade 2 are no longer required to sit for Arabic Exams.
Please note that whilst the exam period is set by the Ministry of Education all exam papers are set by the school and, therefore, can be easily re-scheduled in cases of illness.
Please do not send your child to school to attend the exam and then expect to take them home. If they are not well enough to attend school all day, they are not well enough to sit the exam – we will reschedule it for them, just telephone the school on the morning of the exam and let Mr. Tharwat or the receptionists know. We will contact you regarding the relevant new date. If you do send your child when they are unwell, they will be sent to the clinic and returned to you without taking the test as per school policy on exams and illness.
Best of luck

Important Announcement from The Directors
Dear Parents,
Mdm Soumaya, Mr. Karim and I are very pleased to announce that Matt Topliss, the Secondary School Head, has agreed to become the new Principal of the British School effective from January 2020.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank both Matt Topliss and Nihal Amin and their Senior Leadership Teams teams for the way they have looked after and developed the British School since September. We are very confident that things will get even better and we are sure that Matt will steadily and thoughtfully lead the school in the future.

El Alsson Parent Council
Dear Parents,
As we are approaching the end of the first term, we are delighted to announce the launch of a key initiative within our school community which will ensure that parent involvement can continue to grow in all areas of life at El Alsson. It is very important for the development of the children to see their parents involved in their school and helping with different activities that increase their enrichment and provide them with an incredible experience at El Alsson.
As most of you know, the Parent School Association (PSA) has been on hiatus for quite some time due to many different reasons. There have been many issues in the past with the way the PSA was structured and the overall purpose of the Association. This chasm that took place between the true purpose and the reality of what was happening was the main reason that the PSA was put on hold. It was important to look back on what happened and what worked (and what didn’t) in order to come up with a new and improved formula that benefits everyone involved.
We are excited to introduce The El Alsson Parent Council, which will continue to be defined and grow to serve the primary purpose of increasing the enrichment of the El Alsson students through different programs, events, and activities outside their classroom time. The key ingredient to the success of the Parent Council is volunteers. We are very lucky that our school community is one that prides itself with having close ties to one another, making it that much easier to work together to make it an even more positive experience for our children.
It is important to note that the success of the Parent Council will be determined by how we, as a school community, adhere to the purpose of the Council as well as increasing the overall volunteerism culture within the parent community. There will also be teacher and administration involvement in the Council in order to increase the communication between the parents and the staff.
The El Alsson Parent Council will be rolled out gradually with some activity taking place this school year, and we aim to be fully functional at the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year. Additional information will be available at our first meeting.
We would like to invite you to an information session at the British School Small Hall on Tuesday December 17th at 8:00 am.
We are really looking forward to an amazing experience and to have a strong and successful Parent Council to serve the entire El Alsson community. We hope to see as many interested parents at our information session on Tuesday!
