On Saturday, February 8th, El Alsson School hosted Sohbet Khair Sports Day for orphans. We invited the 18 children from Nour el Eman orphanage to join; this is the local orphanage that El Alsson School supports.

The playgrounds and football fields of Alsson School were filled with smiling faces of children.  Over 80 children came for the day to participate in art activities, face painting, sports and games. Besides the Sports activities, which were carried out by student volunteers who joined from Sohbet Khair’s side, the art activities and face painting which were offered by El Alsson students was enjoyed by all.

 

This was a real treat for the children as they do not often get the chance to come together in one place to play sports and have fun doing art activities. 

Several Alsson staff members and students came in to supervise the activities.  They painted faces and taught the children to play basketball. All of the children took part in painting a large mural.  They did an abstract painting and had fun mixing and blending the paint.  It was a day that the children will never forget. 

 

A local television station came and spent the day filming all of the activities.  They were impressed with El Alsson students and staff.  The segment will air on the Egyptian station channel 1 on a Saturday morning at 10:15am.  We do not know the date yet, although once we know we will announce to the students.  Hope you can see it.
