Profile

I graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service (Washington, DC) and moved to Egypt eighteen years ago to work in the development sector. I have held various positions on a number of projects, most recently executive director of a project focusing on the agricultural sector. Other projects that I have worked on have involved the food processing sector, fishing, handicrafts, animal husbandry and the Federation of Egyptian Industries (institution building). Currently I am taking a sabbatical from my profession in order to focus on the needs of my children. I have three children at Alsson and a fourth will join next year. I have a very keen interest in working with the school and other parents to ensure that our children receive the best education possible at Alsson.

What I think the PSA should do and what I can bring to the PSA:

I believe the PSA has an important role to play in communicating the concerns and the ideas of parents to the school staff and management. This is perhaps even more critical in the current environment in Egypt – an environment of change and uncertainty. We need to ensure that our children continue to receive the highest quality of education possible, despite the myriad challenges we face in Egypt. Parents who have experience working in different sectors – and particularly management (decision-making) experience – can bring different and new ideas to resolve these challenges. Together, we can make an excellent school even better, for a brighter future for our children.

What I think the PSA should do and what I can bring to the PSA:

I believe that PSA member is the link between children and their parents from one side and the school from another side , helping with ideas and decisions for the benefit of both sides with the main concern of bringing up happy confident children who are ready to contribute to their society.
