GCSE- A LEVEL French trip to France NOVEMBER 2015

GCSE- A LEVEL French trip to France NOVEMBER 2015

Dear Parents,

Next November, as part of the GCSE – A LEVEL curriculum, we are planning to offer a trip to the south of France from Tuesday 2nd to 8th November(half term holiday). This trip relates manly to your son/daughter’s current French courses, and will offer numerous opportunities for the students to experience French culture; using French language in real life visiting the most attractive spots in Provence (Marseille and its bay including “the Calanques”, the Velodrome Stadium, Les Baux de Provence,…) and in the French Riviera ( Saint Paul de Vence, Grasse) up to Monaco. But most importantly, they will have the opportunity to meet French students they will be in contact with from September 2015 and spend a day in their secondary school.

In addition to sightseeing tours, students will have the opportunity to do activities such as attending a unique Sound and Light show in a limestone cave, visitinga soap museum ( “savon de Marseille“), having a cruise along Marseille bay, visiting a famous Modern Art museum and discover how perfume is made in Grasse (http://www.museesdegrasse.com/en/photos-et-videos)

We might also have the opportunity to attend a football game in the Stade Vélodrome (depending on Olympique de Marseille fixtures) and a show performed by Cirque Plume  (http://www.cirqueplume.com/indexgb.htm).

Furthermore, as there is no direct flight to Marseille, we have to make a stop-over in Istanbul for 1 day and we will be visiting the famous Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia and we will be having a cruise on the Bosphorus channel. A full itinerary will be provided prior to travel.

We anticipate that the cost of the trip will be around 12000 L.E. This includes flights, transportation, guided tours, accommodation in B&B, entry fees but not the cost for a Shengen Visa and the visa for Turkey and other meals. Please note that the flight tickets should be about 4500 LE and the total amount will be paid partly in euros (700 euros) This price is based on 20 students participating. If there are places left we open the trip to non-French GCSE students too.

To secure your son/daughter’s place on the trip, please fill in the slip below, and return it to Mrs Fabienne Rodriguez along with a 200 euros and 2000 LE deposit by the end of May. This deposit is non-refundable and obliges the student to pay in full for all costs incurred.

Places on the trip are limited to 20 students however the school reserves the right to refuse students who are underachieving or whose behaviour, punctuality, attendance is not up to standard.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail   frodriguez@alsson.com.

Yours sincerely,
