Learning to Lead (L2L)

The Learning to Lead programme is an innovative and exciting course which is being taken by all Senior School students in both British and American sections. El Alsson School is the first and only School in Egypt and the Middle East to deliver this full L2L programme for its 11-18 year old students.

Learning to Lead equips young adults with life skills, it helps build their character and prepares them for the future. It ensures that students understand and model what they learn.
All young people graduating from El Alsson will be called upon to show leadership qualities. For this reason we have invested heavily in the L2L programme, and all staff have had been trained by the UK-based authors of the course. We hope that this course is the starting point for the preparation of our students to take the lead when the opportunity presents itself.
The course has been designed by Teaching Future Leaders, a company formed by experienced classroom teachers and school leaders. On their website they say “the core of our mission is to provide courses that are relevant to today's students and that teach them valid skills that encourage an understanding of, and desire for, lifelong learning” … reflecting and enhancing the vision and mission of El Alsson School.
In Key Stage 3 and the Middle School, the course is broken down into units which cover key areas of leadership training:
When the students move into KS4/KS5 and High School, the L2L course builds upon the work done lower down the school and provides real life situations which allow students to demonstrate their leadership skills in a learning process that develops a real understanding of leading and managing.
TFL Education has also written these courses to provide young people with the opportunity to gain recognised leadership and management qualifications. Teachers assess the students’ progress and at the end of the course the participants receive certificates from the Chartered Management Institute. This course is also worth the equivalent to two 'B' grades at GCSE (103.5 GCSE points for UK universities).
